I've lived at 35W for more than 4 years. PROs Great location Modern & well maintained Responsive service staff CONs It's SO LOUD. While I rarely hear other tenants, the work at the Bedrock construction site is torture at times. It's a major inconvenience for those that WFH and Bedrock raises rents instead of insisting they not start work until 8am or giving tenants a break on increases. There is zero bike storage and you cannot use another Bedrock building. You will have a very hard time fitting your bike in the tiny elevator. Speaking of which - they modified the elevator after I moved in. Be very careful before assuming your furniture will fit. I wanted to move a couch out of my place and it's not very bulky. We had to carry it down 9 flights of stairs.
Laurie M. on May 17, 2020I absolutely love living at 35W. The building is very well designed and maintained and I feel safe here. The staff is on their game and very kind. I love the Capitol Park location. However, it is LOUD beyond belief. It's not just the garbage pick ups super early in the morning - the constant beeping that comes from the truck or the dumpsters that get dropped loudly one after another - often around 6AM. Lately, it's the unbearably loud motorcycles and loud music coming from vehicles speeding up and down Woodward and on weekends it can last until or after midnight. It's also the construction which I'll forgive since it's great to see the city being rebuilt. But I've been listening to a loud, piercing, high pitched beep out my window for an hour so far. Other cities like Boston enforce noise ordinances. If Detroit wants to attract residents it will need the funds to do so. I'd rather not keep my windows shut all summer but it's coming to that point. Still, if you're willing to put up with the noise and want to live in the great city of Detroit, I'd highly recommend checking out 35W.

Overall, apartment is nice. However, heat is loud in bedroom, fridge style is out-of-date, floors are uneven, and there is no additional storage space/locker.
patrick m. on Dec 11, 2023We are longtime tenants and never have seen the elevator situation this bad or so poorly handled. We are pregnant and need to be able to trust the elevators will work - especially this close to the due date. My wife had to wait downstairs for 20 minutes and I had to take the stairs 3 times on Saturday alone. I have been in contact with Brionna, our PM, but have seen about 0% in terms of progress or assurance that we can have an operational elevator. Figure it out! Hire an elevator attendant until you fix the issue.

Anonymous on Dec 6, 2019Noisy. Thin windows that you can't open. Shipping and receiving is always a mess. Bad coordination with maintenance. No programmable thermostat. Security isn't very helpful
