Very much enjoying the new place in a nice quite area

    4.5/5 Anonymous on Aug 29, 2023

We love this place, except for the many spiders that find their way inside and offleashed dogs that have charged at us twice now. Location is great, on the outskirts of a busy city, but close enough with a short commute anywhere in town. Rent isn't bad for a 3BR house, however I expect prices to go up once tesla finishes building close by.

Living in Kyle, TX

Located in Hays County, Kyle is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Austin, Texas, metro area. This small city has a prominent school system, low crime rates, affordable living costs and easy connections to several big cities, making it popular for renters looking to relocate to a city with a lot to offer. Kyle also has long and dry summers and short and windy winters. Temperatures range between 37°F and 95°F, so it stays relatively hot throughout the year. That said, renters should be careful during hurricane and tornado seasons. Additionally, the city experiences some rainfall and no snowfall, which means renters can explore the city’s attractions, parks and outdoor activities.

Renting in Kyle, TX

Because of its growing popularity, Kyle’s rental market mostly has new renter households and apartments for rent, so renters can often find apartments that no one has lived in before. Plus, rents in Kyle are lower than they are in Austin and San Antonio, making it a convenient spot for commuters who want to live in an affordable city close to major job opportunities. Notably, most rental units in Kyle are one- to three-bedroom apartments in the northern section of the city, but there are also plenty of single family renter households in the southern area. The most popular neighborhoods are Woodlands Park, Kensington Trails, Amberwood, Bunton Creek, Plum Creek, Southlake Ranch and Four Seasons Farm. When renting in Keller, landlords can ask renters to provide a security deposit and pay an application fee to cover the screening costs. Landlords can also charge a late fee for delays of more than two days. In turn, renters have the right to a habitable unit and can ask landlords to perform significant repairs that will maintain it that way.

Things for renting

Shopping in Kyle, TX

As I-35 runs through the middle of the city, a variety of stores, shops and malls are located around this road. Most shopping activity is centralized in Kyle Marketplace, an outdoor shopping mall with big-box stores and restaurants. There are also some smaller, locally owned stores throughout the city where renters can find various antiques, crafts, apparel and discounted goods. And, because it’s close to Austin and San Antonio, renters are also within a short drive of these cities’ big shopping malls and entertainment opportunities. Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, The Home Depot, Walgreens, Lowe’s, Dollar Tree, and the local brand H-E-B markets are the main spots where renters do most grocery and department store shopping. Renters can also buy local goods, crafts and foods during Kyle Market Days, an event running regularly during specific months.

Transportation in Kyle, TX

Kyle is centrally located between major cities, so it’s connected through several pathways. However, the cycling and pedestrian infrastructure is relatively underdeveloped, so renters will need a car to do most errands. The main arterial road is Interstate 35, which cuts the city in the middle and exits north toward Austin and south toward San Antonio. In addition, several farm-to-market roads that are part of the state’s system of secondary and connecting routes connect renters with neighboring areas. Meanwhile, the MoPac rail line (also known as Texas Eagle) runs through downtown Kyle and connects Chicago and San Antonio. Uber and Lyft are also available as the primary on-demand ridesharing providers for those who rent in Kyle. Finally, renters needing air travel can use Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, located 27 miles northeast, or San Marcos Regional Airport, which is 10 miles south of Kyle.
